PHARMACY TECHNICIAN
The mission of the Pharmacy Technician program is to provide the technical instruction and skill development for the student to become gainfully employed in the pharmacy field. The purpose of the Pharmacy Technician program is to provide learning experiences which enable graduates to obtain basic competencies needed for employment as a Pharmacy Technician in either the institutional or retail setting.
A technician is an individual who, under the supervision of a pharmacist, assists in the performance of activities of the pharmacy department not requiring the professional judgment of a pharmacist. Technicians must be appropriately trained for functions performed.
Admission Requirements:
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Provide a regular high school transcript or GED transcript
• Complete TTCA Pharmacy Technician application
• Provide letters of reference
• Physical exam with proof of TB test and required immunizations
• Personal interview
• Pass Nursing Entrance Test (NET) with a minimum score of 42 Math and 51 reading.
Students are subject to drug screening and criminal background checks based upon clinical affiliation agreements.
Cost of training includes textbooks, supplies, personal items, liability insurance, membership fees, and tuition/fees. Financial Aid is available for those who qualify.
