Special Industry Training

Established in 1964, the Tennessee Technology Center at Athens serves McMinn, Meigs, Monroe, Bradley and Polk counties. The Center is governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents, and is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education.

The following programs are currently offered on a 30 hour per week schedule and can be modified in order to meet the training needs of your organization:

  • Automotive Technology: ASE Certified training.
  • Business Systems Technology: Training for administrative assistance.
  • Collision Repair Technology: I-CAR Certified training.
  • Computer Electronics: Preparation for Comptia A+ Certification
  • Industrial Electricity: Provides hands-on wiring and troubleshooting offered on PLC    controls, motor controls, and transformers.
  • Industrial Maintenance: Provides skills needed to perform general maintenance in: electronics, machining, welding, and mechanical maintenance.
  • Machine Tool technology: Provides training on state-of-the-art Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) equipment, lathes, and milling.
  • Pharmacy Technology: Provides training for employment as a pharmacy technician.
  • Practical Nursing: Provides training for employment as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Welding: Year long program covering all major welding processes.

The TTC Athens strives to develop and provide quality training programs that will meet the specific needs of local business and industry through our Special Industry Training Program. Our flexibility and ability to provide quality technical training at a reasonable cost provides local industry the perfect one-stop-shop for their training needs.

The standard per training hour rate begins at $50 per hour up to 10 students. It is the belief of the TTC Athens that no one should be denied training due to financial need. Therefore, the center offers several types of financial assistance to those who qualify: Federal Pell Grant, TELS Wilder-Naifeh Technical Skills grant (Lottery Scholarship), V.A. Educational Benefits, and others.
